Although Cardano’s activities in the continent of Africa have been questioned multiple times, Cardano’s Founder has reassured yet again that Cardano is shining like a bright star in the region.
During the month of October, the Founder of IOHK and founder of Cardano, Charles Hoskinson, and his team have been quite active when it comes to the digital developments in Ethiopia, meeting up with several politicians and financial experts in the market in order to expand Cardano’s reach further deep in the region.
Educational Innovations
Charles and his team once again visited Ethiopia’s Ministry of Education in order to provide an update on the student credential system that was first revealed back in the month of August. Charles stated that he and his team had visited the Ministry of Education in order to talk about the digital innovations that are related to the educational credential systems in the country of Ethiopia, now strengthening up with nearly “five million students.”
The credential system is basically a solution that would have a drastic change on the academic records of students by utilizing their educational information, setting it up on the blockchain to secure data, and providing an authentic digital identification to each and every single student in the region.
Going National Level
During an interview with Bloomberg, Charles stated that this is just the start of a completely new system for the region, as He intends to focus on the introduction of a new identification system on a national level if launched, would increase the individual user base to more than a hundred million users in the region.
Cardano’s Atala Prism Project currently sits at the 14th spot of the list of most influential projects this year, called out by the Project Management Institute. The Institute commented about the project, saying that this project provides a unique way of how crypto assets can be utilized in order to promote a “socioeconomic change” that would spread across the continent.
Why Africa?
According to a recent blog post from IOHK, the reasoning for operating in the African continent was stated to be that, because the region hasn’t worked with old systems, it has hindered the potential that surrounds the region, and this is a big opportunity to integrate better and more effective solutions to revolutionize the system.
