Patrick McHenry, a US lawmaker from Congress, is well-known to be a big fan of Bitcoin. McHenry has provided a Bitcoin whitepaper on his official website through which the lawmaker has urged fellow lawmakers to ensure the adoption of innovation in crypto regulation. McHenry strongly believes that the future of the economy is in digitalization and there is no way that anyone can stop something which is to happen inevitably.
After Joe Biden took charge as US President, several members of the US has openly spoke in support of the world’s leading cryptocurrency – Bitcoin. Most prominent amongst these lawmakers was Patrick McHenry who hails from North Carolina.
Very recently on 29th January (Friday), 2021, McHenry recorded an interview for Squawk Box at CNBC. In this interview, he was asked about the approach of the US Government and the lawmakers towards crypto regulation.
He started off by commenting that the world cannot stop ever-growing technology to bring about change and innovation. This is something beyond everyone’s reach, he commented. Either today or the day after tomorrow we all have to adapt and get used to the changing environment by embracing it. He also stated that we need to provide alternatives to our financial systems and trading products. This is essential for the global economy so as to absorb unprecedented pressures created in unwarranted circumstances, said McHenry.
McHenry is one of those fellows, who have been big-time fans and supporters of Bitcoin. Past week, a lawyer by the name of Craig Wright warned people acting on behalf of self-confessed inventor of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. He warned people to refrain from publishing Bitcoin whitepaper on their web pages or open platforms.
However, soon after the warning, McHenry opted to publish Bitcoin’s whitepaper at his official website hosted by Congress. Thereafter, McHenry stated that ingenuity and innovation should be part of the US’s policy if the US wishes to lead the world. He then suggested that it is time now that people within the government should join hands with him and support Bitcoin.
Mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez, is also a popular politician who is known for being a Bitcoiner. In disregard of Craig Wright’s warning of initiation of legal action, Suarez too put on the whitepaper on his website as well. He said that these days he is tirelessly working within Miami to introduce mass-scale adoption of Bitcoin and other crypto-assets. He said that it is his wish to see Miami becoming a hub of crypto in terms of innovation.
McHenry also quoted Suarez and stated that the US needs people like Suarez to achieve the US’s dream of innovation. He then said that men can never stop time from evolving. The least a man can do is to get used to the changing times and then adopt it and improvise further.
